DAVID LACHAPELLE: EARTH LAUGHS IN FLOWERS.
Legendary surrealistic star photographer David LaChapelle just released an incredible new collection of baroque-inspired still lifes, currently about to go on display with Fred Torres Collaborations in NYC. Centered around gorgeously tacky flower displays, each shot is like being transported into the home of some super-wealthy-yet-senile persons home, where old pill boxes, half-eaten food items, and odd plastic play things have accumulated like sculptures over time. My kinda mess! See them all for yourself below...

VERUCA'S WORLD: VALENTINE'S 2012 EDITION!

The first Valentine's day I ever had with my boo is one of those memories that always stays burned into my mind with a happy, positive light around it. Just the thought of it makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside, remembering all those new emotions that are always so passionate at first. Ah, the Thompson LES, you were good to us. So that's why this year I've decided to try and recreate that same secret affair vibe by getting us a room at the much more affordable Yotel - same place we had our Mavado party a few months back! I'm taking all the smart precautions to save loot, like buying my own champagne to put on ice and not touching a single thing in the mini bar. Only problem is that my man had a huge work gig on the actual 14th, so we're cheating things and having our special night tomorrow instead. Who says we can't?! Let you know how it goes come Monday, but until then here's a cheery selection of Valentine's appropriate gifts that'll surely please the lady lover in your life. Hubby, if you're reading this - I'm dying for that Meadham Kirchhoff shirt and it's not too late!

BAD GIRLS.
Man, I am so pissed at Jay and Kanye right now. After making us wait and anticipate this long over the video for Niggas in Paris, all we get is some corny live show chopped up with special effects an an epileptic seizure warning in the beginning?! Merde les gars, you could do so much better. I thought they'd be driving matte black motorcycles through the Louvre or throwing Euros off the Eiffel Tower, but there's not one drop of dopeness to be found. See it for yourself here. If you're curious as to how a PROPER music video should look like, then I suggest peeping the work of genius Romain Gavras from his latest visual masterpiece - M.I.A.s Bad Girls video.
Baddest shit ever!

SHIT SPANISH GIRLS SAY.
I know, I know - the 'Shit People Say' phenomenon is getting seriously played. Problem is, there are just too many groups of people in this world with funny quirks and topics of conversation that are hilarious when stereotyped. I love the trend because it allows everybody to make fun of one another in a relatively unoffensive manner, like with Shit People Say In LA - pretty spot on. But my absolute favorite up to this point has to be Shit Spanish Girls Say, because growing up in NY and getting educated through the local public school systems I definitely lived this on a regular basis. Dimelo!
"MAAAAAAAA". I need to just watch this on repeat all day.

EBONY DILLZ.

Normally I don't give two shits about sports, but you kinda gotta love the SuperBowl, especially when NY is playing! The game last night was totally epic, I almost cried afterwards! And not for nothing but come on...Madonna killed it! I can't believe people are hating on her today. I'm usually the first to call her out but I was truly impressed by her ability to dance around in such high heels and still look fierce as fuck, homegirl is 53 after-all. Schooling those youngins! But at the end of the day let's be real - my favorite part of the game is the players. Jason Pierre-Paul, I want to be your wife. So in honor of more Black History Month goodness, here's a fresh roster of ebony Dillz with some NY GIANTS tucked here and there. GO BIG BLACK!

THE COVETEUR UPDATES: CARLY, ERICA, RACHEL, & SUSAN.
Thank God it's Friday! I'm really excited about spending another chill weekend indoors, cleaning up my apartment and getting some quality time in with little Coco. My plan is get the place so spotless that I can set up my own little wannabe-Coveteur post where I gather all my prettiest, most treasured shit and put it on display like they do. A grown-up apartment dress-up, if you will! Here's a little inspiration to get things poppin...

SPRING 2012 COUTURE FAVORITES!
Oh couture! It's like the fantasy realm of high fashion where designer dreams are transformed into masterpieces of epic proportions - exotic fabrics, wild silhouettes, and glimmering adornments galore! As a kid I never liked couture much because I'd just find myself thinking "that's totally un-wearable", but the older I get, the more I see/respect fashion as an art. Some things aren't meant to be worn more than once, or sometimes ever at all - they simply belong in beautiful rooms neatly propped up on beautiful silk hangers surrounded by other beautiful untouchable shit. Perhaps a waste to some, but for me just the possibility of seeing such works up close makes me feel that much more creatively fulfilled. Daphne Guinness, we're all living vicariously through you! Now onto my favorites from these latest 2012 collections...

OUR LITTLE JAMIE IS ALL GROWNS UP!
A few years ago we had the pleasure of having the beautiful & talented Jamie Balbuena work as an intern for us over at the old MOB offices, but it's only years later that I'm finally getting to hear/see her doing her thing. God, how were we sleeping so hard on this?! Big ups to Lourdes for sending this and especially to Jamie for always remaining so modest and awesome - keep killing it boo!
