THE COVETEUR UPDATES: CARLY, ERICA, RACHEL, & SUSAN.
Thank God it's Friday! I'm really excited about spending another chill weekend indoors, cleaning up my apartment and getting some quality time in with little Coco. My plan is get the place so spotless that I can set up my own little wannabe-Coveteur post where I gather all my prettiest, most treasured shit and put it on display like they do. A grown-up apartment dress-up, if you will! Here's a little inspiration to get things poppin...

SPRING 2012 COUTURE FAVORITES!
Oh couture! It's like the fantasy realm of high fashion where designer dreams are transformed into masterpieces of epic proportions - exotic fabrics, wild silhouettes, and glimmering adornments galore! As a kid I never liked couture much because I'd just find myself thinking "that's totally un-wearable", but the older I get, the more I see/respect fashion as an art. Some things aren't meant to be worn more than once, or sometimes ever at all - they simply belong in beautiful rooms neatly propped up on beautiful silk hangers surrounded by other beautiful untouchable shit. Perhaps a waste to some, but for me just the possibility of seeing such works up close makes me feel that much more creatively fulfilled. Daphne Guinness, we're all living vicariously through you! Now onto my favorites from these latest 2012 collections...

OUR LITTLE JAMIE IS ALL GROWNS UP!
A few years ago we had the pleasure of having the beautiful & talented Jamie Balbuena work as an intern for us over at the old MOB offices, but it's only years later that I'm finally getting to hear/see her doing her thing. God, how were we sleeping so hard on this?! Big ups to Lourdes for sending this and especially to Jamie for always remaining so modest and awesome - keep killing it boo!

MISS DILLZ CHERIE: BLACK BEAUTIES! (NSFW)
Being that today marks the first day of Black History Month, it only makes sense that we take a bit of time to admire some of the dopest black beauties I could find in my femme folder. You're welcome!

NEW MIXES BY NIRE!

Our resident DJ and OG MOB girl NiRE sure has been busy these last few, pumping out two mixes dubbed Embers & Do It Do It that make me wish summer was here already. They're like the perfect jams for a July rooftop party - that Wegue Wegue track is extra sick! Here's a little breakdown on NiRE herself from fellow NYer Jason Scott...
"NiRE or Erin is my fellow homegirl from Queens, NY. Since first reading about her in Vapors magazine in 2006 then being formally introduced by her schoolmate & my former client, DJ Treats, she's been a reoccurring DJ in my personal and professional circles for the past 5 years. The work ethic and eccentricity she possesses is not like many of her stature. She's a savvy sweetheart w/ a flare for raw Hip Hop for the 90's Lo' heads to Future Bass for the International club kids. Usually accompanied by her FemmeC, artist Nani Castle, I've witnessed NiRE gracefully control parties in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the Lower Eastside, the Meatpacking District and even Midtown Manhattan. Her budding original production is surely the icing on the cake so look out for her new music coming soon to a Soundcloud near you! Oh yea, she just so happens to be cute as hell too!"
Definitely can't disagree with him there! Have a listen for yourself...

THE INS & OUTS: MENS STYLE, WINTER HATS, & CURVES VS. MUSCLES.

OUT: BAD MENSWEAR / IN: GOOD MENS HAIR
Though I've always been more of a jeans-wearing-girl, I've only braved 'trousers' or actual pants a few times in my life. I've gotta say though, there's an empowering feeling that comes with wearing business attire - people just kind of respect you more, especially men. And they raise your ass up really nicely! But like with all things, there's a wrong way and right way to do it, and our little Mean Girl on the left totally fucked it up. So while I respect her attempt at a fun, androgynous-esque outfit, the colors and fit are absolutely retarded, and the raised undershirt is only making things worse. Boo, you whore!

VERUCA'S WORLD: SHINE ON.

As much as I always say I wanna wear more colors, I just constantly find myself going back to black - you usually can't go wrong with dark shades! But that said, it's not really a good look to seem like your going to a funeral 365 days a year. You can keep the black clothing, but don't forget about the power of accessories! I love all the prints, metallics, and neons we've been seeing on the runway recently, from vibrant striped fur scarves to shoes fluorescent enough to light a runway, there's definitely something out there that'll spice up your somber wardrobe. While in Paris I almost cracked for this gorgeous neon Givenchy fold-over clutch (came in green and orange, I went back to look at it twice) and I'm still regretting not getting it now, but there's always another desirable objet out on the horizon! So today's Veruca selection is all about those glistening items that we ladies are instinctively drawn to like bees on pollen. If you've ever had tunnel-vision in front of a jewelry store on Versace window display, you know what I'm talking about. All that glitters ain't gold!

FOX FUR MERKIN, ANYONE?
Well just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than hot-gluing rhinestones to your vaginal region, NY-housewife & Completely Bare spa owner Cindy Barshop is raising the bar for vulgar rich girls all over town with their newest treatment option - Fox Fur Merkins. In case you don't know what a merkin is, I spoke of them way back when on Mobliving and they're essentially pussy wigs, though they were invented like centuries ago to distract from foul-smelling/looking or disease-infested muffs. Kinda like dousing rotting meat in spices to distract from moldiness! But anyway, these are fox fur and come in an array of fun colors like hot pink, which are applied using glue after a proper waxing. Afraid fox fur might interfere with your tropical vacation plans? Fret not mi ladies, there's also a Carnivale option using vibrant bird feathers - I mean, how else would you spend $255?

LUNDILLZ!
Wow, I had quite the weekend! While most heads in NY were probably busy recovering from hangovers or going out to create new ones, I was holed up with a blanket on the sofa watching episode after episode of the infamous Twin Peaks series. UGH, why has it taken me this long?! Officially obsessed, and I'm so bummed that I only have a few episodes to go. Laura Palmer, you little freak! So with this recent Lynch/Frost inspiration pumping through my veins, look out for some familiar male faces from the show in the Dillz list below...

CAROUSEL OF TIME.
What an awful day out - technically speaking, of course. I never really mind rainy days. They're like an unspoken excuse for staying in without feeling guilty, though they do totally fuck my hair up. And it may sound corny, but days like this can be really inspiring too. Looking out the window on a sunny day is nice, but it's kind of boring, at least compared to how things appear when they're all grey and wet. Regardless of your preference, I thought this little video featuring that awesome track I'm God would go perfectly with the gloomy weather outside. So soothing and adorable!
